Doctorate degree in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics from University of
Missouri-St.Louis. She is a professor of Biology at the Federal University of
Amazonas and is also a collaborator researcher in the Dynamic Biological
Project of Fragmented Forest from The National Institute of Amazonian
Research – INPA. Has experience in ecology with emphasis on landscape,
population ecology and bird conservation. Since 2016 she is collaborating
with LABVERDE program giving talks about landscape ecology.
Charles R. Clement
PhD in Horticulture with emphasis at genetics, growth plants and genetics
analysis from University of Hawaii. He is a researcher professor at the National
Institute of Amazonian Research, and collaborator professor at Federal
University of Amazonas and Federal University of Santa Catarina. His expertise
area is Genetics focused at genetic resources, especially themes as Pupunha
(Bactris gasipaes), Origin and Domestication of Native Amazonian Crops,
historical ecology, Amazonian genetic resources and fruit trees. Since 2016 is
collaborating with LABVERDE program giving a talk about Amazonian
PhD in Ecology from the National Institute of Amazonian Research -
INPA. He is a professor of Zoology at the Federal University of
Amazonas. He has studied the different aspects of the ecology of social
insects, most of them, ants. Besides having many scientific publications,
he is one of the organizers of the books “Reserva Ducke: Amazonian
biodiversity through a grid”, presenting scientific research to the general
public, and “Guide to the Ant Genera of Brasil”, an illustrated book that
aims to present to students the enormous diversity of Brazilian ants.
Since 2013 he is collaborating with LABVERDE program giving lecture
about Adolpho Ducke’s Fauna and Flora.
PhD in Forest Science from the University of Göttingen, Germany (2003). Currently he is a researcher in biogeochemistry for the Max Planck Institute of Chemistry (MPIC – Germany) working in association with the National Institute of Amazonia Research (INPA) in Manaus. He also is a researcher at the Wet Areas National Institute of Research and Technology (INAU) in Manaus. With expertise on ecology and forest management, especially dendrochronology with application on dendroclimatology (relationship between climate and trees growth, climate reconstruction), dendroecology, carbon dynamics on woody biomass and definition for loggers resources management. He has also worked with the development of models to forecast water flood levels in the Central Amazon. Since 2016 he is collaborating with LABVERDE program giving a waking lecture about the age of the rainforest.
Ornithologist specialized in Amazonian birds, with emphasis on
biogeography. He has a bachelor's degree in Biology from Dartmouth
College, a master's degree in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal
Biology from Tulane University and a PhD in Zoology from Louisiana
State University. He has studied birds in the Amazon since 1987.
Currently he is Staff Scientist and Curator of Birds at the Brazilian
National Institute of Amazonian Research - INPA. Since 2013 he
participated as an instructor in LABVERDE program leading bird
Lilian Fraiji has a master’s degree in Curating Arts from the University of
Ramon Llull, Barcelona. She is an independent curator and producer based in
Manaus, Amazon. She is the co-founder of Manifesta, an organization
dedicated to develop multidisciplinary contents involving art, science and
environment. Was the chief curator of the Amazon Pinacotheque and has
curated several art exhibitions involving the subject of the Amazon. Currently
she is the coordinator of LABVERDE program and is responsible for
program’s social contribution at Bosque da Ciência/Inpa.
Born in Brussels, Belgium. Has a Master degree in Architecture and
Urbanism from the Victor Horta Institute, Brussels (2001), and a
specialization on Geography and the City at Escola da Cidade, São Paulo
(2010). Was project leader for important architecture offices in Brazil,
Spain, Holland and Dubai, such as Office for Metropolitan Architecture –
Rem Koolhaas and Studio Arthur Casas. Since 2008 has worked on
several projects involving arts, architecture, urbanism. Currently is the
Urban Planning Director at Manaus Municipality. Since 2013 is responsible
for the social media and the coordination of LABVERDE’s program.
Philip M. Fearnside
Ph.D. in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at University of Michigan (US). Is a Research Professor in the Department of Ecology at the National Institute for Amazonian Research - INPA) since 1978. Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and coordinator of National Science and Technology Institute (INCT) of Environmental Services at Amazon. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2007. Honors include Brazil's National Ecology Prize, the UN Global 500 award, the Conrad Wessel prize and the Chico Mendes prize. In 2006 he was identified by Thompson-ISI as the world’s second most-cited scientist on the subject of global warming.
Has a master degree in Tourism and Local Development from the State University of Amazonas - UEA. Acting as a naturalist guide since 2002 throughout the Amazon Basin. Has field expertise conducing expeditions on the Amazon region focusing its biodiversity and fauna and flora conservation. Since 2017 is responsible for the organization and mediation of LABVERDE program.
PhD in Social Science from the The Pontificial Catholic University of São Paulo. Researcher professor at the Federal University of Amazonas. Has expertise on Sociology with emphasis on Development Sociology, History of ideas, local development and woman's work. Since 2016 he is collaborating with LABVERDE program talking about the creation of Amazonian Landscape.
Visual artist and poet, Roberto Evangelista is a celebrated artist from his generation. He was a pioneer in using performance and video art. He has a degree in Philosophy from the Federal University of Amazonas. He has participated in several national and international exhibitions including “Amazônia – Ciclos de Modernidade” (2010 – 2014); “Universalis” (2008), 23rd Bienal Internacional de São Paulo (1996); “Out of Actions – Between performance and the object” (1949 – 1979 ); Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, (1998). Since 2016 he is collaborating with LABVERDE program talking about his artwork.
